A resonator changes specific frequencies rather than simply acting as a smaller rear silencer. Removing it may increase volume and sharpen certain parts of the note, but it can also expose frequencies that are tiring inside the cabin.

Tell the workshop the engine speed used at common cruising speeds, whether the car has cylinder deactivation or multiple drive modes, and when any existing boom occurs. This information is more valuable than describing the desired result only as loud or deep.

A modification that sounds exciting during a short acceleration can still be unsuitable on a two-hour journey. The decision should account for the vehicle's most demanding regular use.

The replacement route should maintain sensible clearance, support and joint placement. Tube diameter and connection method are matched to the retained system, with the original section preserved where the agreed design is reversible.

At handover, inspect alignment and listen at idle, light load and the relevant cruising condition where practical. Sound remains subjective, so the original brief should be used as the acceptance reference.
