Original build film by Pi Motorsport · approximately 95 seconds

The brief: a more assertive sound, built around the owner.

This G80 M3 project began with a specific request for a particularly loud exhaust character. Pi Motorsport custom manufactured the system without resonators to suit this owner's preference. That choice belongs to this particular build; another owner may want a more restrained result for everyday driving.

The film pairs the completed BMW with an explanation from the workshop team, then follows the preparation, welding and fitted pipework. It is a useful way to see the people and work behind a bespoke exhaust, as well as the finished car.

Custom downpipes and a Z-pipe middle section.

The project is described by the workshop as custom downpipes with a Z-pipe middle section. The reel includes component close-ups and views of the installed underbody routing, with Pi Motorsport branding on the pipework.

In the accompanying post, Pi Motorsport also describes development of direct-fit sports downpipes and a high-flow, resonated Z-pipe middle section for the G80 M3. That resonated design and this customer's version without resonators are distinct specifications. Discuss which approach suits your own car before choosing components.

The post describes supply and workshop fitting options. Contact the team to confirm current development status, compatibility, availability and fitting arrangements before ordering parts or planning a visit.

From the workbench to the underside of the car.

The fabrication sequence is the detail worth watching closely. Pipe preparation at the bench leads into welding, a close view of a fabricated section and footage beneath the car. Together, those shots show how the individual parts become a fitted assembly.

The installed views are particularly useful when discussing a similar project: exhaust work involves routing and connections as well as the visible rear of the car. The workshop assesses your existing setup before agreeing the scope of work. A film of one completed car is a project example, rather than a universal specification for every G80.

Planning a custom exhaust for your BMW G80 M3.

Send your vehicle details, photographs of the current exhaust and a description of the changes you want. Tell us about existing modifications and how you use the car, including regular motorway journeys. The starting point and your priorities help shape the discussion about downpipes, the middle section and resonators.

A recording is a useful reference for a conversation, but microphones, playback devices and the conditions in which a car is filmed affect what you hear. Your own specification needs an assessment and an agreed quote. Pi Motorsport works from one Birmingham workshop and welcomes enquiries from owners across the UK.

Before planning a similar build.

Does this BMW build include resonators?

The accompanying Pi Motorsport post says this specific customer requested a particularly loud result, so the bespoke version was made without resonators. The resonated Z-pipe design described in the same post is a different specification.

Can I order a direct-fit G80 M3 system?

The original post describes direct-fit parts as being developed. Ask the workshop about current availability, compatibility, the exact specification and supply or fitting options before ordering.

Will my BMW sound exactly like the film?

Sound depends on the complete vehicle setup as well as the recording and playback equipment. Share the sound you want and your current modifications so the workshop can assess suitable options. The film is not a measured sound comparison.
